After being paid $2,000 by Mr. Tomkins, one of his high school teachers, Mike Platt commits a brutal murder, shooting Tomkins' wife and wounding her husband. When witnesses see a kid on a bike riding away from the scene, Hanson and Penhall go undercover at the school to find the killer. Wanting to be accepted by his school mates, Mike is upset by Hanson's easy acceptance. However, after showing interest in Doug Penhall's truck, he is befriended by Doug. When everyone attends the funeral of Mrs. Tomkins, Mike is embarrassed by his own awkwardness and leaves, only to find Hanson looking over his bike in the parking lot.
