An Egyptian court has ordered former President Hosni Mubarak's release from jail, his lawyer said. The court met here at Tora prison, where Mubarak is being held, to review a legal petition demanding his freedom, said judicial sources. This means the 85 year old could leave prison on Thursday, as there are no longer any legal grounds for his detention. After 30 years as Egyptian president, Mubarak was arrested soon after his overthrow in February 2011.
