About 2,000 Tripoli residents turned out for this demonstration to urge erstwhile rebel fighters to lay down their weapons and go home. The rebels, hailed as heroes in the drive to oust Muammar Gaddafi, have become an unwanted presence on the capital's streets. The new government wants the militia groups they form to leave law and order to the police and the new army it plans to form. These protesters in Martyrs' Square agree.
