Sky watchers all over the Earth witnessed a rare astronomical event on Wednesday, the transit of Venus as it passed between the sun and Earth. In South Korea, students watched the planet, which appeared as a small black round spot, as it moved across the face of the sun. In the Philippines, students held pieces of film across their eyes as a filter to help block the sun's bright rays. The phenomenon happens twice in an eight year period, and then not again until more than 100 years.
