Yu Darvish nearly achieved perfection. In his first start of the 2013 season, the Texas Rangers pitcher retired the first 26 batters that the Houston Astros sent to the plate on 110 pitches. Darvish needed just one more out to become the 24th pitcher in MLB history to toss a perfect game. With two away in the home ninth at Minute Maid Park, the right-hander from Japan delivered a 4-seam fastball to Marwin Gonzalez, who knocked it up the middle for a single.
