As a lifelong fan of both The Rolling Stones and Martin Scorsese, two legendary entities who are revered almost equally in their respective fields, the idea of a collaboration between these gods of rock and film for what would ostensibly be the most epic rock documentary of all time, is almost too good to be true. And as much much as I want Shine A Light, this holy union of music and movies to be a thing of unspeakable awesomeness, I can;t deny my reservations. I don;t know if it;s the band finally starting to show their age, the clash of the titan ego scenes with Scorsese that somehow feel a little forced, the presence of Christina Aguilera, or the patently unattainable expectations of the entire endeavor, something just feels vaguely disconcerting about the film, suggesting a band too worn down for a Last Waltz, instead just stumbling its way off-stage with the grace of Keith Richards after a long Saturday night in the pub.
