Dennis Hopper is superb as a middle-aged man whose comfortable life is coming to an end. Faced with the pending death of his mother, Joseph is at wit's end. It doesn't help that his teaching career is nearly over, or that his longtime girlfriend Rosalee wants a lifelong commitment. however, when a 17-year old student named Catherine enrolls in his class, Joseph would soon end up in her arms. Joseph is torn between the passion and feeling that he is leading an unethical lifestyle.
