One man, Private Widdle (Charles Hawtrey) is discovered wearing drawers beneath his kilt and this indignity is, in the eyes of the Khasi of Kalabar (Kenneth Williams) almost sufficient to inflame his tribesmen to clear the British out of India. When Lady Joan (Joan Sims), wife of the British Governor (Sidney James) offers proof that the whole regiment is similarly clothed, the Khasi is overjoyed. Captain Keene (Roy Castle) and a small party infiltrate the Indian headquarters in order to retrieve the evidence but are captured. However, the captain has a friend, The Khasi's lovely daughter (Angela Douglas) who is in love with him and, with the help of Lady Joan assists the party to escape.A fierce battle begins, but there is one trump card to play - and the Governor is not slow to play it! The tribesmen retreat in horror and the British Raj is safe once again.
