In his first purely dramatic role, Michael Keaton (The Paper, Batman) is brilliant as a young wheeler-dealer whose life spirals downward as a result of his drug and alcohol dependency. Undergoing treatment, he learns to understand his addiction and himself. Excellent supporting performances are provided by Emmy Award-winner Kathy Baker (TV's Picket Fences, Edward Scissorhands) and Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby, The Shawshank Redemption).
