Jenny is now working at an office supplier with less than successful results. Pete finally gets his marching orders from Jenny and after insulting Adam in a drunk stupor, he is kicked out of their house and forced into looking for his own place. After deciding to try for a baby, Rachel and Adam are ecstatic when Rachel's period is two weeks late. However they are bitterly disappointed to discover it was a false alarm. They decide to see a specialist as Adam is concerned he may be infertile due to his cancer treatment. David has a new project. Karen persuades him to attend the community meeting to save the resident playground from demolition. He enjoys motivating the assembled group and connects well with Jessica, a local political activist. She evens tries to persuade Robert to join the Labour Party.
