A group of Texas Rangers are forced into retirement after a cavalry regiment arrives to take over the region when Texas is admitted to the Union. However, the cavalry is ill-equipped to handle the vicious local bandits and foreign terrain, along with a corrupt local government. When Roy's ex-Ranger brother is killed, Roy convinces the Rangers to take up arms again and go after their friend's killer. The former Rangers out-wit and out-manouver the cavalry, managing to capture the gang of desperadoes responsible for the murder and oust the corrupt politicians running a protection racket.
