I'm not even going to lie about it. This has been a stressful week. I had three job interviews...ugh. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful but they're so emotionally draining and a big waste of energy if it doesn't work out. It's so funny how every interview this week brought up different emotions. On one of my job interviews, I was completely disinterested in the position and I didn't care enough to fake it. It was a "why am I here?" situation. The second interview, I was super interested in and maybe came off a little too eager. I was trying to answer each question in a way that would please the employer. By the third interview, I was like "F... IT! I'm just going to be completely myself. Love it, hate it....whatever!" And it was this interview I got a call back for a second interview.
This is how I interpreted this lesson. We are all our own distinct ice cream flavors. If you are strawberry be strawberry. Don't try to be vanilla because you can never be vanilla and vanilla can never be strawberry. The strawberry lovers are going to love you because you're their favorite flavor.
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Salsa dancing was the new thing I tried this week. I had such a good time. I had no idea that I would enjoy it so much. I loved the self expression through the movement and music. It was a great gift I gave myself this week. I am going to start doing it regularly. That is the beauty about trying new things. Life seems to be a process of discovering ones self. It this is true, then we have to put ourselves out there in order to find our passions and small enjoyments. The one thing we all want is happiness.
As I said in my video, I'm so glad I tried Bungee Jumping last week. It got me out of my comfort zone, tested my courage and taught me many things about myself. However, I don't feel the urge to do it again anytime soon. Lesson I took from this: We are all different and enjoy different things. It is good to test yourself and get out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Find the things you love and do them often.
"Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions."
