An apartment house manger is bludgeoned to death and Sgt. Friday (Jack Webb) and his partner, Officer Gannon (Harry Morgan) seek the murderer in The Hammer. Several clues lead to various suspects, and eventually to a small Arizona town where Friday and Gannon are accompanied by Policewoman Dorothy Miller (Merry Anders). Featured guests include James Oliver as Fred Tosca, Jill Banner as his wife, Camille, Brian Avery as Terry Ridges and Chet Stratton as Guthrie, all residents of the apartment house.
