DROP BACK TEN is the shaggy tale of a reporter, Pete Barnes (James LeGros), in need of an assignment. When a complacent young editor (Josh Lucas) tosses him a job, a profile of a minor celebrity (Desmond Harrington), Pete swallows his ambition and accepts the offer. Almost immediately, he stumbles into the lives of his subject and finds that nothing is quite as it seems. From the star's handlers (Tate Donovan) to the not-so-unrelated woman who crosses his path (Amber Valletta), everyone seems poised to complicate Pete's story - and sense of himself. Written and directed by Stacy Cochran, with a score by Pat Irwin. Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Dramatic Competition, 2000.
