Dr. John Carter (former series star Noah Wyle) is joined by Dr. Dakarai (recurring guest star Eamonn Walker - Oz) in the Sudanese desert as they treat hundreds of disease-infested and famine-stricken people. Carter and Dakarai spring into action to save a woman who was raped by a militant group. Meanwhile, back at County General, Clemente (recurring guest star John Leguizamo) returns from New Jersey with wounds. Pratt and Neela quickly save a 14-year-old involved in a hit and run accident, but Pratt becomes infuriated when he discovers who hit the teen. Mary McCormack (The West Wing) recurs as Debbie, one of Carter's fellow aid workers.
