On a church skiing trip chaperoned by curmudgeonly Dr. Abbott, Amy and Colin share their first kiss since his surgery; Ephram becomes intrigued with Colin's younger sister, Laynie (recurring guest star Nora Zehetner), who has recently returned home from boarding school; and Bright wants to make romantic progress with his girlfriend, Gemma Maxwell (Devon Reilly). Meanwhile, Dr. Brown hesitantly agrees to attend a party for single people with the recently divorced Reverend Thomas Keyes (recurring guest star Tim Dekay).
