This documentary attempts to track the history of hip-hop and rap music by starting at the source: the streets. Filmmakers interview denizens of Harlem and South Central Los Angeles, who know all too well that the musical genre is much more than just a record industry moneymaker; it's poetry that tells the truth about a hard-knocks life.
