Fool in a Bubble -- FOOL IN A BUBBLE takes audiences on Syd Kitchen's journey from apartheid to modern South Africa to New York.Syd is a fifty-eight year-old white South African of third generation Saxon descent.He continues to be a vital force in the African artistic community for over forty years.He is the product of his ancestors' pursuit of freedom as told in his song 'Settler' 'My forefather came from across the sea, he had in his heart a need to be free and all my life I've been lost in his history, all my life I've felt so alone.I offer love, I ask redemption'. Syd visits New York to record an album with musicians from Paul Simon's Graceland.His first trip is frustrating and he leaves disillusioned, sinking deeper into his own personal wounds. Back in South Africa s suffers a near death car accident then continues drinking, smoking prompting an intervention from a close friend. As a result Syd starts confronting his past wounds and transforming himself.He gets married and prepares for a second trip to New York City to launch the album.In New York, Syd is shocked by a surprise reunion with his brother whom he played with in the 70's as The Kitchen Brothers,South Africa's foremost acoustic duo.While launching FOOL IN A BUBBLE,Syd invites his brother on-stage to perform their hit Midnight to a rousing audience response.Syd also plays to folk legend Pete Seeger and lays down the foundation for future development of his career and life in New York.
