Synopsis >

After Schanke discovers that the third victim in a series of fatal sexual assaults subscribed to a local dating service, Natalie returns to her lab to examine the body. Reminded that he has forgotten her birthday, Nick heads out for a last minute gift as Natalie recalls their first meeting when he was supposedly killed trying to stop a robbery. Then, bumping into a friendly stranger - Roger - at a nearby market and accepting his offer to walk her home, Natalie runs into Nick as he is delivering her present. After meeting Roger for lunch, Natalie agrees to an impromptu trip to the beach. Meanwhile, when Schanke discovers that all of the victims were members of the dating service at one time, suspicion falls on George Bomfrey, a former employee dismissed for sexually harassment. After bringing Bomfrey in for questioning, Nick goes to Natalie's apartment and inadvertently interrupts her and Roger kissing at the doorstep. Discovering Bomfrey has an airtight alibi for the murders, Nick gets him to admit he sold the dating service's files to someone driving a white van with a flower painted in the side. While using some of Roger's blood as a control sample for a DNA profile of the killer, Natalie recalls agreeing to help Nick find his way back from being a vampire. Accepting the offer of a surprise date, Natalie is taken by Roger to a tropical plant nursery, whose white vans bear the flower logo described by Bomfrey. Told that Roger has the same genetic profile as the killer, Nick realizes Natalie is about to be his next victim. As Roger tries to assault her, Natalie suddenly sees what is happening and runs, hiding among the plants as Roger tracks her with a pick axe. However, when she falls and is rendered unconscious, Roger attempts to dispose of Natalie's body until Nick comes crashing in. Confronting Roger and shot with his own gun during their struggle, Nick throws Natalie's assailant to his death through the greenhouse roof. Finally, as Natalie prepares to take a much-needed vacation, Nick is still unable to state his real feelings for her.
