Filmed at the Zurich Opera House in 2001 with maestro Franz Welser-Most at the helm, this superb presentation stars mezzo-soprano Liliana Nikiteanu, soprano Malin Hartelius and tenor Volker Vogel. Adapted from the immortal Brothers Grimm fairy tale about the house-nibbling siblings, Hansel und Gretel was German composer Engelbert Humperdinck's most successful opera. Famed children's author Maurice Sendak conceived the production's costumes.
