After the death of his wife, a grief counselor for terminally-ill children, Dr. Joe Darrow (Kevin Costner), assumes care of her patients. A series of eerie occurrences leads him to believe that she is attempting to communicate with him through the near-death experiences of these children, and he goes to dangerous extremes to uncover the meaning of his supposed ~^madness.~^ -
