On the first season finale, Johnston leads a heavily outnumbered army into battle against New Bern, where one of Jericho's own will be lost during this fight for survival. Although Jericho has far fewer men and resources than New Bern, it has a few advantages. Hawkins and Jake reveal to Johnston that Hawkins has the ability to track New Bern's position via satellite. And with the help of the tank that they took from the fake marines, Jericho launches one of New Bern's mortars against them. At the same time, Hawkins realizes that his tracking device is allowing someone to track him at the same time.
