Michael and K.I.T.T. investigate a logging business which is cutting timber on Federal land. Michael and K.I.T.T. are sent to investigate when Jonathan Dutton, a big supporter of the Foundation, has his house vandalized by Erik Whitby. Erik and his sister, Ellen, claim they are unable to sell their timber to Dutton's Mill because someone is underselling them. Dutton's daughter, Samantha, is in charge of the mill and has been running it at a huge profit much to her father's delight. While checking out Dutton's Mill, Michael runs into opposition from Nash, the supervisor and Dave.
