When an arson fire kills an internationally renowned banker (guest star George Martin) in his imposing new high rise, Detectives Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Eames (Kathryn Erbe) probe the victim's dysfunctional family, including his young trophy wife (guest star Laila Robins) and failure-prone son (guest star David Aaron Baker) -- both of whom had reasons to want the older man dead. As they begin to stitch together a case, the cops find a piece of tawdry evidence in a bank vault that points them in a new direction. Jamey Sheridan and Courtney B. Vance also star.
