Upon the death of a favorite relative, Paul joins Jamie and Lisa at their Uncle Van's funeral. However, when Jamie encourages him to say something at the service, Paul ends up insulting her entire family with his remarks. Yet, Paul soon finds he is the one who is upset when Jamie insists on taking Van's cremated remains home so she can find the best place to dispose of them. After dismissing his suggestion to scatter them in the Hudson River, Jamie is inspired when Paul recalls her late uncle's love of horse racing and decides to place Van's ashes in the winner's circle at the track.
