When Richard Nixon made his first appearance on Meet the Press on September 14, 1952, he was a 39-year old first-term Senator, and Dwight D. Eisenhower's vice presidential running mate. Nixon saved his political future with his famous televised Checkers speech, given just nine days after this appearance on Meet the Press.
