Ami James and three of his best friends - all world-class tattoo artists - are returning to South Beach to open a tattoo shop together. It's called Miami Ink. The four men, along with their apprentice, Yoji, are trying to build a thriving business based on their extraordinary art. The very first client is the world famous surfer Sonny Garcia, who gets a map of his native Hawaii across his abdomen. Since tattoos are forever, the Miami Ink clients tend to have profound reasons behind their choice of body art. A college student pays homage to her brother who committed suicide with song lyrics on her foot; a famous South Beach drag queen immortalizes his famous character, Marvella; and Gianmarco, an Italian entrepreneur wants the word, forever, in Italian on his arm. (But he gives Ami the wrong spelling!) And as each new tattoo emerges, so does a little more of the character of our star artists: Ami James, Chris Garver, Darren Brass and Chris Nunez.
