Michael

Directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer, this rare, silent 1924 German film tells the story of an aging artist who falls into a terrible depression after Michael, the young model and student he loves, leaves him for a woman. Based on Herman Bang's 1902 novel, the film stars Benjamin Christensen, Walter Slezak, Nora Gregor and Karl Freund. Renowned architect Hugo Haring is credited with the film's production design.
