On Dangerous Ground (1986)

Stephen Collins stars as a young physicist who believes he has discovered a limitless supply of clean energy. To prove his theory, he sets up a laboratory in Choke Canyon, the closest site on earth where Halley's Comet will soon pass. But a global conglomerate wants to dump the toxic waste from a nuclear accident in the canyon, and the physicist realizes only he can rally the local people to defend themselves and their homes located On Dangerous Ground.
