On the Outs is a gritty drama about three young girls from the same neighborhood whose lives intersect briefly in prison, giving us a powerful look at a little-seen slice of America. Oz (Judy Marte, Raising Victor Vargas) is a 17 year-old drug dealer struggling to cope with her drug-addicted mother and a mentally challenged brother. Suzette (Anny Mariano) is a sheltered 15 year-old whose first love with a street-smooth hustler becomes her mother's worst nightmare. And Marisol (Paola Mendoza) is a teenaged single mother who uses crack to escape, only to find herself fighting to keep her young daughter out of foster care. The film is based on the lives of real girls from the streets and juvenile jail who lent their voices to the filmmakers and exposed shocking truths about the struggle of kids everywhere who live on the fringes - on the outs - with society.
