Like many musicians, Italian-born songwriter Mauro Remiddi got his start playing in various rock n roll bands, but found real freedom once he went solo under the name Porcelain Raft. He relocated from the U.K. to New York to record Strange Weekend, a gorgeous collection of one-man psych-rock. [Strange Weekend] is a snapshot of myself being in New York, in a basement, he tells Hive in this latest First Take, Hive s video series spotlight on emerging artists. Porcelain Raft is different from my past projects. It s me basically showing everything brilliant or less brilliant. Watch as he performs Drifting in and Out, the opening track from Strange Weekend.Check out more First Take performances with Sharon Van Etten, Exitmusic, Alabama Shakes and more here.
