Jed leaves town to be with his seriously ill father while Dylan deals with her undeniable feelings for Eric. Debra tries to cope with her increasing depression while Danny finds himself adrift without her. Andy goes on his first date in a very long time with Vanessa, the performance-artist. Lisa explores the possibility of singing in a band while trying not to fall for John, the lead-singer.

Dylan and Eric develop a flirtatious relationship. At work, Brittany offers Dylan an opportunity for advancement--with an ironic caveat. Debra wants to quit working for her father. Lisa gets an intriguing response to her reel on quarterlife.com, which propels her to audition to be the lead singer in a band. Jed reluctantly tries to get a date. After calling it quits with Danny, Debra begins having panic attacks and her friends worry that she is in a downward spiral.

Debra s friend Eric arrives to stay for a few days. Jed becomes frustrated as he and Danny struggle to make their car commercial coincide with the vision of the dealership owner. Debra and Danny s search for an apartment brings up questions about their level of commitment to each other. Dylan becomes embroiled in office politics and Jed agrees to shoot a demo reel for Lisa.

Led by Eric, the group mobilizes to fight against their vindictive landlord who wants to evict them. Vanessa s video camera and performance art continues to annoy everyone and cause problems. Lisa and John negotiate their relationship. Eric confronts the landlord and potential buyer of the building and the conflict escalates into a legal war. Dylan and Eric worry about what will happen to their relationship if they have to move.

Dylan and Eric are still in the very early stages of dating, which is tumultuous enough without the added complication of a certain houseguest: Dylan's mother. Lisa is thrilled and terrified when she is invited to sing at a gig in Las Vegas with John's band. Danny, Andy, and Vanessa decide to tag along and shoot a mini-documentary about the experience. Lisa is forced to confront her fears and find a way to overcome her self-destructiveness. Meanwhile, Dylan tries to forge a more meaningful connection with her mother as Eric tries to help, but only makes matters worse.
