Nathan's excitement at scoring a ticket for himself and a guest to a dinner with President Obama turns to dread when he has to pick one of his family members to be his "plus one."
Just as Nathan begins to unwind on his vacation in the Bahamas, Carol's surprise appearance gets him riled up all over again until they meet Ganja Pete. Meanwhile, Debbie is upset with Adam when she learns that he used to write love songs for the special girls in his life when he was younger. Tommy Chong and Austin Mahone guest star.
Nathan asks Tom to spend the weekend with him in the hopes of finding something they have in common. Also, while Debbie and Adam are out of town at a vegetarian convention, Carol stays with Mikayla and accidentally turns her upraising upside-down.

When Nathan gets frustrated after he's forced to drive Carol around town for errands once again, he demands that she either learn how to drive or find another chauffeur. But when Debbie volunteers Adam to drive Carol, everyone's surprised when they form an unexpected bond.
Nathan learns to appreciate Carol's incessant rants after he mimics one of them at work and is rewarded with his own news segment to complain on the air. But when his tirades lack the flair and fervor of his mother's, he secretly devises ways to keep her irritated in order to get new material.

THE MILLERS stars Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced local roving news reporter looking forward to living the singles life until his parents' marital problems unexpectedly derail his plans. After Nathan finally breaks the news of his divorce to his parents, Carol and Tom, his father is inspired to follow suit and stuns the family when he leaves his wife of 43 years. Already in shock, Nathan is even more aghast when his meddlesome mom decides to move in with him. Meanwhile, his absent-minded dad imposes upon Nathan's sister Debbie, her husband Adam and their daughter. Nathan's best friend and news cameraman Ray was excited to be Nathan's wingman in the dating scene, but Carol manages to even cramp his style. Now, as Nathan and his sister settle in with their truly impossible parents, they both wonder just how long the aggravating adjustment period is going to last.

In the 2nd season of The Millers, Carol learns to relinquish some control of her kids' lives while Tom becomes more self-reliant, and both parents even hit the dating scene again.
