Three women are murdered, their killer having caused them all to have
strokes. A fourth victim survived but cannot communicate - Thorne thinks
it was the killer's aim to leave his victims incapacitated, not dead.
Tughan identifies police pathologist Hendricks as his prime suspect and
works to expose the dark secret that binds him to Thorne. Anne's daughter
Rachel unwittingly puts herself in grave danger.
Thorne continues his investigation alone when Tughan dismisses his theory
about the killer. He and Anne try to help Alison communicate. Another
woman - who thinks she may have met the murderer - is attacked.
Two simultaneous murders at a train station are connected to another
double homicide months earlier. Detective Thorne realises there are a pair
of serial killers at work in a macabre partnership.
