After Dr. Steven Thatcher is found murdered in a hospital lounge, Chris and Rita learn of h s rocky affair with nurse Kelly Nash. Investigating further, Rita meets Dr. Martin Greenwald, who recently lost a hospital teaching position to Thatcher, while Chris questions Kristine Randall, the doctor responsible for hiring the late physician. When a parking lot log suggests Greenwald came to the hospital briefly on the night Thatcher was killed, Chris and Rita search his office and find the murder weapon in the doctor's desk drawer.
