Stateside is an adventurous romantic drama between a high-school rich kid and a falling star. Based on a true story, Stateside follows Mark Deloach (Jonathan Tucker), who lands in the Marine Corps to avoid jail, where Drill Instructor Skeer (Val Kilmer) is on a mission not only to train, but to make a man out of the rebellious teenager. But before shipping out, Mark is introduced to Dori Lawrence (Rachael Leigh Cook) by a mutual friend, and the two make a perfect match of misfits. Dori is a schizophrenic actress who has left the bright lights of Hollywood to fix her life and mental illness. The outcast lovers - with more than a dose of humor - cling to their romance in spite of the obstacles from authorities and circumstances which stand in their way.
