Stormy Monday

Writer-director Mike Figgis's understated first feature follows Brendan (Sean Bean), a young man who becomes involved in the seedy underworld politics of Newcastle, England. Brendan takes a job at a local nightclub and soon teams with the club's owner (Sting) and a waitress (Melanie Griffith) in their struggle against an American tycoon (Tommy Lee Jones) who wants to develop Newcastle at the expense of local businesses.
