Anthony is a 19 year old college freshman who wants to skip his sophomore year. In order to do so he must take a summer course called Empathy And Shakespeare's Villains, where he meets Maria. Over the course of the summer he faces up and down such integral parts of the young person's experience as dealing with a girlfriend who wants a girlfriend, parents who don't want you anymore, and trying to plan and execute a liquor store hold-up. An avid tribute to the New Wave films of France in the '60's and the No Wave American indie films of the eighties, SUMMER KNOWLEDGE turns the coming of age genre on its head, combining laughs with the wistful nostalgia for chances missed, times gone by, and youth passed.
