Undercover Treasury agents Dennis O'Brien (Dennis O'Keefe) and Tony Genaro (Alfred Ryder) go after the mob in Anthony Mann's brutally realistic film noir. After an agent assigned to a counterfeiting ring is killed, the partners take over the investigation posing as hoodlums. O'Brien and Genaro infiltrate the Detroit gang and wind up finding out exactly how ruthless the mob can be. Mary Meade, Wallace Ford and June Lockhart also star.
