When a new Pricemart opens up in town, Red interviews for a supervisor's position. Eric wants a job too, but his parents want him to concentrate on school. Hyde tells Eric that if he really wants a job, he should stand up to his parents.Kelso's baffled when Laurie says she doesn't want to make out, but would prefer to talk because she's depressed. Kelso listens patiently in the hope he'll eventually score with Laurie. But afterward, she feels so close to him; she wants a real relationship so she can continue their heart-to-heart talks. Kelso tries to call things off, but Laurie threatens to tell Jackie. Red finally gets his job, only to discover that Eric's been hired at Pricemart as well. Red announces that the first thing he's going to do as a supervisor is fire Eric. Eric says that he won't back down, so Red relents, but threatens to really fire Eric if his grades go down.
