Meredith Cole (Christine Lahti) has recently separated from her husband and is living with her son in a comfortable, isolated house. Beneath her cheerful demeanor, she harbors a dark secret: she has an incapacitating fear of the outside world and is unable to leave her home. Needing someone to run errands, she takes in a boarder named Jane (Jennifer Rubin). When Jane?s boyfriend Peter (Dylan McDermott) arrives, Meredith discovers that the pair recently murdered a wealthy socialite and are on the run from the police.
