In 1943, the Germans opened Stalag Luft North, a maximum-security prisoner-of-war camp, designed to hold even the craftiest escape artists. In doing so, the Nazis unwittingly assembled the finest escape team in military history. The first half focuses on the escape efforts within the camp and the process of secretly digging an escape tunnel. The second half follows the German Gestapo's massive effort to track down the escaped prisoners; now scattered throughout the Third Reich, as they attempt to make their way to England and various neutral countries.
