Over five hundred years ago, Christopher Columbus set sail in search of gold. He didn't find gold, but he did discover the Havana cigar -Europe's first major commodity. Since then, the Havana has become the cigar of connoisseurs all over the world. Among the more famous smokers of the Havana were Winston Churchill, Fidel Castro, Groucho Marx, and John F. Kennedy (who imported his own private stock before banning their sale and importation into the United States. Shot on location in the Cuban provinces Pinar de Rio and Havana, where socialistic workers need three to four years to produce a Havana, and in London, Madrid, and Berlin, where Havana afficionados whiff these expensive toys in forty-five minutes, this entertaining documentary takes a look at the history and tradition of the finest cigar in the world.
