Based on the classic story by Victor Hugo. Ashamed of his strange appearance, the shy hunchback Quasimodo takes refuge in the splendid cathedral of Notre Dame, happily ringing the great church bells - and entertaining his only friends - the comical belfry bats. Then, Quasimodo catches sight of Melody, the bewitching gypsy girl. Suddenly, his heart is filled with a different kind of music. Melody's joyful singing enchants all who hear her, including her own musical instruments which spring magically to life. But when Melody refuses the affections of the evil Captain of the Guard, he vows to burn her as a witch the very next morning. Now, as daylight approaches, only Quasimodo, the zany bats, and the enchanted musical instruments can save Melody. Quasimodo teaches that standing tall brings happiness and that you don't have to be afraid of people's opinions. Melody's experiences prove that a free happy spirit can help you get through the toughest situations.
