D'Artagnan and his fellow musketeers set out to save the life of King Louis XIV, the rightful King of France. He has been imprisoned in a remote castle dungeon by his brother and forced to wear an iron mask. They succeed but at a heavy price. This was Fairbank's last silent film, and the only one in his career in which he died on screen.
