A study in adolescence, Rachel (Ione Skye) and Charles (Dexter Fletcher) are a couple of English college kids who fall in love in this 1980s update of Matin Amis's novel. James Spader is the divisive element as DeForest, the rival boyfriend. Michael Gambon has an uproarious scene as Doctor Knowd, as does Jonathan Pryce as Charles's seriously deranged uncle. Damian Harris (Gardens of the Night) directs this dramedy.
