A spoof documentary (or rockumentary) about a washed-up British metal band called Spinal Tap. Beginning as an impromptu skiffle band, Spinal Tap morphed first into an R&B act called the Tamesmen (with the hit Gimme Some Money), then had a fling with psychedelic rock with Listen to the Flower People, and finally a hard rock band. Spinal Tap s albums include Intravenus DeMilo, The Sun Never Sweats, and Bent for the Rent. The film finds the band languishing in near obscurity and embarking on a North American comeback tour supporting their latest effort, Smell the Glove, and the tour is being documented by filmmaker Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner). Everything that can go wrong does, including cancelled shows, guitar pickups broadcasting air traffic reports, and winding up as second billing to a puppet show in an amusement park.
