Deep in South America, Johnny Munroe (John Wayne) and Pop Mathews (James Gleason) toil away on a transmountain railroad through the Andes. They lock horns with their corrupt boss (Cedric Hardwicke), a situation made worse when Munroe falls for the man's beautiful daughter (Laraine Day).
