Very Close Quarters

Writer-director Vladimir Rif steers this madcap Cold War-era sex comedy about a cramped Moscow apartment that doubles as a home to 31 strangers who are forced to become roommates by government decree. To drive the neighbors -- and her mother (Shelley Winters) -- a little batty, Vera (Lee Taylor-Allan) pretends to be a lesbian. But her mother would much rather she dated her drunkard boss (Paul Sorvino).
