One year after accidentally scaring his fiancee to death, a young man (Jason Biggs) heeds his friend's advice and begins dating again. He hurriedly proposes to a waitress (Isla Fisher), but she has issues of her own, including a pair of problematic parents (Joe Pantoliano, Joanna Gleason).
